Monterrey Iron & Metal, a San Antonio institution since 1916, announced the appointment of Jordan Vexler as chief executive officer. According to a press release from the company, Vexler, who has served as chief operating officer of Monterrey Iron & Metal since 2008, steps into her new role with a steadfast commitment to environmental advocacy and innovation within the metal recycling industry.
Vexler is following in the footsteps of her great-grandfather Abraham Vexler, grandfather Harold Vexler, and now her father, Jack Vexler, who has served as the company’s CEO for the past several years. Jack Vexler will continue to play an integral role on the leadership team as president of the company, as will brothers Jeff Vexler and David Vexler, who each hold senior leadership roles at Monterrey Iron & Metal.
Jordan Vexler brings a background in environmental stewardship and community engagement to her new position.
She is an active member of the recycling industry’s trade organization, ReMA (formerly ISRI), both regionally and nationally. Her leadership in advocating for safe, economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible practices has garnered widespread recognition.
Fluent in Spanish, Vexler holds a bachelor’s degree in the development of modern Latin America from Rice University and a master’s degree in social policy from the London School of Economics. Her career began in federal policy reform, collaborating at the state and national level with Appleseed, a network dedicated to combating poverty and discrimination, and bolstering democracy.
Vexler has worked in Ecuador with Fundación Cimas del Ecuador (CIMAS) where she facilitated human development and promoted social equity through environmental, social, and health research initiatives.
Since joining Monterrey Iron & Metal, a fourth-generation family-owned business founded by her great-grandfather who opened the San Antonio facility in 1916, Vexler has spearheaded significant changes to enhance the company’s commitment to environmentally responsible operations. Under her leadership, the company has intensified its efforts in supporting the San Antonio community, as well as numerous local organizations and causes.
“We are proud to have Jordan at the helm,” said Jack Vexler. “Her appointment signifies our family’s and employees’ continued dedication to excellence and our mission of environmental sustainability.”
