Originally released earlier this year, Sierra International Machinery’s documentary series Repurposed has been picked up by Amazon and is now available on Amazon Prime Video. Repurposed, a multi-episode series narrated by Sierra’s President and Co-Owner John Sacco, shows how recycled materials are vital to manufacturing and the production of everyday goods.
The series highlights various American metal processors and recyclers to show how recycled materials from ferrous and non-ferrous metals to paper are processed and transformed into new steel, aluminum ingot, copper anodes, and paper products. Some of the experts showcased include ISRI President Robin Wiener, CEO of Alter Trading Jay Robinovitz, CEO and President of SA Recycling George Adams and many others.
In this first season of the series, John Sacco visits Alter Trading in Davenport, Iowa, to get a glimpse of how metals are processed. The recycled metal is then sent to the SSAB Steel Mill, where viewers witness the steelmaking process up close and personal as the material is sorted by grade and type, then melted inside an electric arc furnace, and made into new steel.
ISRI congratulates Sierra on hitting this milestone with Repurposed and thanks them for their efforts to inform people outside of the industry on how crucial and vital recycled materials are for a sustainable supply chain and for the day-to-day items everyone uses.
