The deadline for ISRI’s Young Executive of the Year Award—an honor that will be conferred virtually at ISRI2021—has been extended from Feb. 26 to March 5. Selection committee members made the decision in light of difficulties caused by recent weather conditions throughout North America.
ISRI’s Young Executives Council created the Young Executive of the Year Award to promote the accomplishments of successful young professionals in the recycling industry by highlighting their contributions and dedication, along with a high degree of demonstrated leadership potential. Applicants for this year’s award must be employed by a member company in good standing, must have worked in the industry for a minimum of one full year, and must have been born on or after Jan. 1, 1981.
In addition to being acknowledged at ISRI’s virtual convention, the award winner will receive complimentary registrations to all ISRI national events (virtual and/or in-person) of their choosing during 2021 (where member fees are required), as well as a complimentary full registration to ISRI2022 in Las Vegas.
“The impacts of COVID-19 haven’t halted ISRI’s young professionals’ incredible work within the recycling industry and their communities. If anything, the challenges have highlighted their perseverance and dedication,” says Lacey Capps, co-liaison of the Young Executives Council. “This award year will have extra meaning … ISRI’s young executives remind us that leadership begins with a mindset: do better, be intentional, and always support one another.”
Brandi Harleaux, chief operations officer of South Post Oak Recycling Center (Houston), won the inaugural Young Executive of the Year Award, which was presented at a virtual awards ceremony last October. Harleaux was recognized for her leadership at her company, which has grown steadily over the past few years, as well as for her volunteer work in her community and with ISRI, through which she is involved in multiple committee, chapter, and council roles.
Along with ISRI’s other awards, the Young Executive of the Year Award will be bestowed April 20 during ISRI2021’s opening general session, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Apply for the award and/or register for ISRI2021.
