Every Earth Day, CDR Global, an R2 Certified, IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) company based in Oklahoma City, Okla., picks an activity to highlight the importance of the day, usually with a focus on sustainability. For Earth Day 2022, the company partnered with nonprofit organization Oklahoma City (OKC) Beautiful to clean up Dolese Youth Park in Oklahoma City. Behind the efforts of 12 employees, CDR Global removed 10 55-gallon bags worth of litter from the park in just a few hours during the workday.
CDR Global was originally scheduled to clean a smaller park, but the number of volunteers that signed up led OKC Beautiful to suggest a bigger park to clean. “We were able to work with OKC Beautiful to ensure our manpower and labor was able to give back in line with the amount of people that showed up,” says Dalton Brown, CDR Global’s business development manager. “It was a great turnout.”
While CDR Global has been celebrating Earth Day for years, the company likes to treat every day like Earth Day. “We embrace every day as if it’s Earth Day, not only in what we do within our company but also with sustainability, which is something we’ve really taken the initiative to educate and instill within our employees so that they hopefully give back to the community,” Brown explains.
CDR Global has adopted the street it’s located on, Wilshire Blvd., and works to make sure that the street, as well as the company’s immediate surroundings, stay clean. Those efforts combined with the company’s day-to-day operations of responsibly recycling electronics to ensure they don’t end up in a landfill, help promote the importance of sustainability.
“We want to change the narrative and get back to ensuring sustainability is at the forefront,” Brown says. “Sustainability is the focal point, not just as it’s related to Earth Day, but with how people participate and conduct themselves within their own organizations and companies they’re involved with. It goes a long way in keeping the place we live, Earth, beautiful.”
