ISRI Members-Only Welcome Breakfast: Celebrating Members Over 20+ Years, 10:00 a.m. – 10:50 a.m. EDT
Open to all ISRI members, this breakfast will honor and recognize those who have been part of ISRI for more than 20 years. During this networking event, members with long tenures will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and discuss what they’ve gotten out of their membership.
Diversity in the Recycling Industry: Successes, Lessons Learned, and Ways to Improve presented by the ISRI Women in Recycling Council, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EDT
Regardless of the industry, there’s always room for improvement when it comes to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). A multi-generational panel of recycling professionals will share their perspectives and insight on what the recycling industry has gotten right regarding DEI. Attendees will learn how to adapt and improve their own organizations’ DEI strategies and plans for the future. During this session, the ISRI Young Executive of the Year Award will be presented to Dan Garvin.

The Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS®) is an integrated Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety management system implementation and certification program to help recyclers meet the highest standard in each of the four areas. OSHA Update, 12:45 p.m. – 1:05 p.m. EDT
In this session, Ryan Nolte, ISRI’s director of safety outreach, will discuss new OSHA legislation, compliance directives, letters of interpretation, and enforcement trends under the Biden administration. Nolte will review where the agency focused its efforts in the past year and new directives moving forward. Stay tuned afterwards for a live Q&A with Nolte via Zoom from 1:05 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. EDT.

Aluminum Spotlight: A Better Year for Aluminum Markets?, 12:45 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. EDT
Like other metal markets last year, the COVID-19 pandemic had massive implications for the aluminum and aluminum scrap industries. By the end of the session, attendees will recognize major challenges and opportunities, identify where aluminum scrap demand growth will come from, and understand the effects of regulatory changes and trade policy on the U.S. aluminum industry.

In this meet and greet, attendees can share ideas on how to grow ISRI with ISRI Chair Gary Champlin and others on the Executive team. It’s also an opportunity to ask about benefits, and to learn about the value of getting involved in a leadership role with ISRI.

Among these questions are the future of nickel prices, the outlook for further industry consolidation in Europe and North America, and the rising market share of producers in China and Indonesia. Youth Engagement: Educating Our Future on Recycling is Essential, 2:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. EDT
For years, ISRI and JASON Learning have collaborated on a national campaign to help students and educators understand the importance of the recycling industry and the required Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills. Educators, ISRI members, and JASON Learning administrators, will discuss ways to engage school districts and build relationships within local communities centered on recycling is essential.
THE BIG REVEAL: Recyclability Protocol, 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. EDT
Be one of the first to learn about ISRI’s new Recyclability Protocol. Starting with fiber-based packaging, this one-of-a-kind venture will provide clarity of what products are or are not recyclable.

RERF Board members will discuss the foundation’s mission including funding and scholarship opportunities. Learn how you can make a difference through recycling’s premier philanthropic foundation.
Advanced Processing Technologies, 4:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. EDT
The same technology that helps streamline our daily activities can be leveraged to make recycling more efficient with cleaner material streams. This session examines current and future technologies that can help recyclers increase productivity while generating easily recycled material streams.
